Wash Day

No it is not the day we wash our clothes. It is the day we wash our hair. The reason why it is a whole day thing is because of conditioning. I don’t just wash and condition and be done. Not even with my daughter’s hair. I washed and conditioned her hair with the products below but for my hair, I use two extra products. Two different masque which all together leaves my hair completely tangle free. My wash day is either today or tomorrow.

My daughter gets her hair done by me and various family members that like to do kids hair. I washed her with the products below and then added the kids product in the picture to detangle it. I used cold pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil for the first time on her hair and it turned out very nice. She has about 10 French Braids in the back with berets, and she has two buns which she wanted right above her ears for some reason. She also wanted them to be big so I made them as big as I could without using rubber bands to hold the buns together. I used hair ties instead which I absolutely love for doing buns and larger pony tails.

I will be adding pictures of the products we are using as I go along to the Products We Use section for natural hair. I have been all natural for 6 years and I would like my daughter to stay all natural as long as she can. Some of us can’t find the right products to use for maintenance like I couldn’t. I started like most of us do using almost all the products that Cantu makes and washing and conditioning with the Pantene 2 in 1 so that it would be easier. Pantene makes good products and they also have a new line of products that just came out that I am not ready to try. Cantu made my hair grow and made it easy to comb but it left it looking like it was lacking shine and moisture.  I switched from Pantene 2 in 1 to the shampoo and conditioners in the picture. All of these products add one thing that my natural hair was missing at first. MOISTURE. My hair was dry and dull with no shine at all until I stopped using the other products. I am not a critic, but I am learning what my hair like besides Olive Oil.

Since my husband is over worked and under paid at his current job, he is upset today. Not the kind of upset where he takes it out on me or anything. Upset at the way his boss is trying to get him to basically do extra work for free even on the weekends and Holidays. He can quit this job like he been wanting to since the beginning and concentrate on the website African American Trades & Goods and I can work on both of the websites which I would love to do. I hate advertising his website so early but it is complete. We just need to add the businesses. We have two on the website already that are local. We are adding local businesses first and adding the online shopping to the site after we get all the licenses and a disclaimer. Feel free to visit and subscribe to it now while he is keeping it free. At some point there will be a small subscription fee or donations area to help pay for expenses.

Now he needs a solid plan. Or another job lined up. Since he is a roofer, he already has a job lined up. He is also going to start his other business back up. But as the song go, we would be living a rough lifestyle for minute until the money starts coming in. Since his boss disappeared for a month or so, I remember what it was like when we didn’t have that extra income. That’s why we made two websites basically around the same time. Mine is more for pleasure at this point and his is stickily business.

I made this website in no time and he was mad about me using his laptop to post to my website. Now that he sees more of what I can do, the more he needs my help which is cool. And keeps me busy. We just got to rotate like with the PlayStation. Take turns. I wanna play Mortal Kombat XL. I am just going to take all my braids out today. I braided it with that Jane Carter’s Wrap Set Roll and it will look just fine today. Save energy and get some rest today. I stay on Twitter a lot though too. I like it a lot more than I do Facebook. It’s like PlayStation 4 VS. Nintendo Switch to me. I can use either or but I do have a preference. Twitter gives you more information faster. Facebook is about family and friends. I don’t have that many on there or in real life. I only deal with certain people. I get my medicine much easier that way. Our friend’s from the neighborhood store where able to renew my Medical Marijuana License with out me having to go back to the doctor. I had to pay them $60 to get everything and the doctor called me and asked about my condition. He said any resent medical documentation would be more helpful and asked me to send copies if I hade any. He had just got back into town from vacation. I sent the pictures of all my stuff to them and they handled everything. I can go get me some medicine now, or have me some delivered. Whatever we smoke later is on me and I need some more of what I have right now. Don’t need to take a muscle relaxer. One pill down. Next…..  Drink more water.

Meeting the PCP

Why did we make two appointments in the same day around the same time? Desperaty. Me and my daughter need to go to all of our appointments. Especially these kind. But she was late and I have to reschedule hers but she did make it to the dentist. They had to pull two of her teeth from all that sugar she like. She said after this, she will never eat or drink sugar again. By the time I saw her, she couldn’t even talk from them numbing her mouth. And she had guaze to stop the bleeding. It is a good thing she was late for her other appointment. She needed urgent dental care. Her tooth had been hurting and it was getting worse. After the numbness went away and I woke up, she could talk again. Her pain medicine wasn’t ready at the pharmacy yet. He has it now and she went to bed fine. After the Tylenol.

My appointment went very well. My doctor is the same age as me and all natural. She had enough hair to make a bun. The office was tiny and your phones didn’t work is my only complaint. The wait time was fine. She had one person in front of me. She had all of my history and meds I take in the system. That is good. She only had to ask a few questions about my family history. The usual but this was a consult to become a patient. Almost like a job interview. My eye was what I was worried about. Why is it swelling? Only when I am sleep and only the one eye. She said it could be a stye or it’s my allergies and wrote me a prescription for Zyrtec. It should bring the swelling down if it’s allergy related even though I take allergy meds daily. She said I may have grown used to the one I am on and to rotate the allergy meds. I will try the Zyrtec the next time it swells.

As far as my blood pressure being high and me needing to take medicine for it, I still have to take it until further notice. It was a bit low before I took my medicine. This can make you light headed or dizzy which is what is happening. She wrote a prescription for a monitor so I could keep track of it at home. I have to write it down daily and bring it to my next appointment. Which will not be a problem.

She did a very quick and basic exam and made two notes. Vitamin deficient and thyroid. She noticed from my medical information that I was low in VitD and I told her I was low in other vitamins too. So she ran the blood work to make sure and we will go from there. I particularly asked about magnesium. She checked my breathing which is normal. Then she noticed the way I swallow and checked my throat and used the word enlarged. My mother had a very serious thyroid condition she had to take medicine for. If she didn’t have the medicine, she would start to have problems. She only could go without the medicine two or three days. We used to go get it for her. I believe it is hereditary. I could have it and not know. So she is doing an ultrasound on my throat. I have to call and make an appointment but at a different location. Still close to home though.

The appointment went great. I turned the flu shot down as usual but I am able to change my mind. I really don’t want one right now. I feel good and don’t want to spoil it. I will be scheduling that ultrasound as soon as possible and getting my monitor for my blood pressure. This doctor is recommended almost. I will be able to say more as I go to visit the office, which is really small and was crowded when I got there. I got my prescriptions and went out in the cold to smoke of course. Way too cold and windy for me so I walked, yes, walked across the street to the bakery and got a sandwich and a drink. Nice bakery too. Hoping my next appointment with this doctor goes as smoothly as this one did. I will let you all know.

Strangly enough me and my daughter have appointments on the same day. Her hair still looks good. My cousin did a good job. Both me and my daughter are seeing new doctor’s today. Got to thinking about how much we have to do today. I want to go to her appointment but would miss mine. I need to get established with this doctor and the Hospital right away. Especially with my eye swelling up during my sleep last night. It has went down to almost normal thanks to warm compressions.

I am not that cold but am still shaking. So, occasional tremors is an understatement. I have them daily. The PT noticed it when he was checking my vitals. Tremor in the right arm. And now in my index finger on my left hand. All this is new. I can’t hold the phone and take good pictures. I take them but it is really hard. Luckily I am right handed. I wrote all this out during my hair break so it would be easier to post. I can post via phone, tablet, or laptop when it is available. But for typing out the post and proof reading it, I need the laptop. The tablet would be my next choice. We have a Samsung Galaxy 4. I like it but it is time for me a new one soon. After I pay off the ones my daughter broke.

I have 8 more braids to do and then I can take another nap. If it’s not too windy, I will wear it out. Otherwise, I am still wearing a scarf. I will just put the scarf in my purse until my head gets cold. I decided to rebraid the same way I did when I posted about my hair. Peppermint Oil and Jane Carter’s. It feels and looks really healthy despite the fact that it needs to be washed. I have been growing it for over a year and started with brush waves. I bought products that were good for our hair and have been using them regularly.

I post as much informative stuff on here as I can and as time permits. The blog hasn’t even been up a week and I am enjoying it again. Today I decided not to talk too much about Dystonia. It doesn’t define me. I have it and I know but it is not who I am. I still have to get up and function the best I can every day. I take morning meds, night meds and other meds through they day to do this. I don’t take as many as I used to but I know I am not taking too many medications. I feel better and better each day with bad days in between. The Pepsi gives me energy, but is bad for my health and I smoke a lot which is also bad at 40. I am doing good though. And I am happy with that. I can care for my child without too much help when her father is at work. I like this because I get to spend more time with her. Especially on a good day which I hope today is for all of us. Wondering what we are doing this weekend. My hair will still be done either way which is comforting.
