Protective hair styles are styles that seal in moisture like braids and twist. I keep my hair in a protective style and add oils and something for hold as needed. My hair is growing good and my scalp is no longer dry. I made an oil that is unisex and should relieve itching and dryness of the scalp and give a bit of aromatherapy in one swoop. I am using it on my hair and two other family members. They have Eczema so without a protective style, they have to apply the oil to their hair everyday. Scalp every other day or two. The good thing is that I was able to try it on someone besides myself and I remember the recipe. I am running out of this oil fast but can make some more to sell or for personal use. I am thinking of trying to sell it. Keep the price really low at the beginning since I would just be selling it to friends and family. Just thinking ahead like I am about my next hair style since I braid my own hair for now anyway. I try to keep it as simple but cute as I can.
My normal protective hair style required rubber bands at the ends because my hair is thick and I like the bigger sized braids. Especially if I am doing the hair. I am now rubber band free. It has grown enough for me not to even need the rubber bands at all. I just need something for hold on the ends. I have been paying very close attention to them and they are not split or damaged anymore. They were dry too and that is no longer the case. I do not use water to detangle because I do not need to detangle anymore. The products I use speak for themselves and are in the products we use section of this sight. Most of the products I use, I order from Amazon and the rest I get in the neighborhood. Olive Oil is always the base oil or carrier oil right now. I may switch to a different carrier oil soon. You can get a starter set at a really good price and sometimes on sale. Then you start your blend. I know other ladies who are doing the same thing. We could start this business right away and really take off during the Spring.
My first tester was me. After I liked it, I tried it on my daughters’ hair. And also her scalp. Her scalp did well and so did her hair where I put the braids. She liked the way it smelled. Her scalp stayed moist for a few days. The part that I braided is still moist and it has been this way for over a week. Her father was next. He says it worked on his hair for a day or so. Before I run out of this kind, I need another females’ opinion. Men don’t necessarily care about which oil to use in their hair. My daughters’ father likes Pantene for Natural or Permed hair. It is a good product but very heavy. I like light weight oils to prevent build up and to keep it from getting so dirty so fast. Even the gel I use for my hair contains oils and is light weight.
I don’t know exactly what is making my hair grow so fast. I was doing the not using oil on your scalp anymore challenge until my head started itching and I noticed those flakes. Since I have been oiling my scalp regularly, those flakes have disappeared. My daughters’ hair is also growing and we try to keep hers braided to promote growth and seal in moisture. This is the first time I grew my hair this long and decided to keep growing it. Next month I am cashing out on hair products. I am a little behind.
When you use light products in your natural hair, it doesn’t get dirty as fast. Want you want to do if you are growing your hair like me is seal in moisture especially during the Winter. I seal moisture in from using different kinds of oils. Nothing to heavy. I have posted about them here before.
This is one off my favorite products to just rub on from root to tip if your hair starts to look dry and it is also great for blow outs.
I use this mixed with some more oils when I first was my hair. It smells great and doesn’t really need to be used on an everyday basis. It comes in a rather small bottle but a little goes a long way. I haven’t tried it it my daughters’ hair yet because I used Olive Oil mixed with other oils in her hair.
I oiled hair scalp and hair and redid the high pony which I am so tired of but looks really cute on her. It’s the fact that she doesn’t like to get her hair combed. She never did but she can take her own braids out now which saves me time. To re braid her hair, I used the products below.
It came out well but her hair is really thick. It’s just as thick as mine so it is harder to comb. Once you get all the oils in it, it is more manageable. If you you have dry hair or scalp, I recommend giving this product and the ones in the other picture a try. Makes your hair shine and look and feel healthy.
I wear a lot of scarves. All different colors and designs. I also keep my Natural Hair braided during the night. I made this in 5 minutes using Google photos. Everyone liked my hair in that picture but it is too cold to wear it like that. Just wanted to share. I am using my phone to post while the AT&T Primetime tablet is on charge. It still hasn’t ran out of energy. I put it on charge twice now. For shorter post, I just use my Galaxy Note 5. I love my phone but it is old and the battery will not stay charged even if I am not even using it. I can file an insurance claim but it would be a waste of money at this point. Almost time to upgrade to the Note 8. I can’t wait.
Behind closed doors I do. Most people just roll up but I can’t roll. I have to learn how to do it all over again. Trying to roll up anything when are shaking just isn’t going to happen. It’s hard enough for me to break down. I use a grinder sometimes. I smoke blunts and joints. Next time I am going to try to roll a joint. I like to do stuff that requires me to think first. How am I going to do it. I used to roll up twice a day with Swisher’s. I bought them by the case to save money. I was buying strawberry to cover up the taste of the depensary’s medical. Some of it worked but had a bad taste. I like mine to taste good.
Piping it gives you the actual taste as long as you keep your pipe clean. A gram of something that works really good will last me 3 days. I have low tolerance to some strains. And it depends on where I got it from. I tried a new dispensary today and got a free sample of some type of pre rolled. It tasted like it smelled. I wouldn’t buy it. I got what they call Fruity pebbles today. Last thing I tried was Wedding Cake 🍰 which they do keep but it cost more of course. Their prices were good for the selection they had. I am going to a different one next time. It is really nice and big. They sell Kosher which is for pain.
Many people with my disability are scared to try it. I tried it because I ran out of pills. It can happen to anybody. The pipe I bought because I love the way it looks and it breaks down into three pieces. It is easy to clean with water and pipe cleaners. The bowl is too small for some people, but not me. I medicate a little bit at a time. I normally smoke only Indica. Works good for the body and you don’t feel to amped up. The free one I was puffing on is now in the pipe. Somebody had to teach me how to use a pipe. I used to hate for my eyes to be red. The glasses I keep learning to wear because of that reason. Plus the help keep sunlight out my eyes since they are so sensitive now.
I appreciate delivery and my papers for my license were delivered to me ready to go. When I was feeling better, I went up there to visit the owners. The hold up was that doctor was out of town. When he got back in, he called me right away and I sent him my medical info from my last appointment. My papers were ready the next day. I was getting frustrated on how long it was taking. Like that pipe took 2 weeks or more to come. The new tablet comes next month.
Since he quit that job, it really don’t matter. I would think that they fired him and he just didn’t want to say. But they were calling. He was calling about a roofing job.
My hair is washed, detangled and oiled. I also did a blow out. After all that, my Dystonia started acting up. My pipe was ready and clean just in case I could go get something or have it delivered. So I went out dressed for spring with my favorite hoodie on. Thanks to that muscle relaxer I took. I was in that bad of shape and have been laying down since I got back. I can relax now and maybe get some sleep.
I like to wash my hair in nice warm water but my water isn’t staying hot long enough for me to do what I need to do to my hair. I had the same problem with washing my daughters’ hair and had to use a bottle of warm water to rinse the conditioners out. I forgot and shampooed my hair and by the time it was to rinse the second time, the water was too cold. You know. Warm on the skin but too cold for the scalp. So I got some bigger plastic bottles and warmed me some water up in a tea pot and it was too hot. At this rate, we can take a 30 minute shower which is good but we need a hot water tank like he said. Our water shouldn’t get that cold that fast.
Right now I have washed and used two conditioners. Now I am doing the first deep treatment. I like this Cantu product a lot and it is the only one by them that I use. It’s in the Natural Hair – Products we use section. It has to stay on for thirty minutes but smells so good. If you can’t see the label in that picture, it is called Cantu Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque which you can get a Family Dollar sometimes. It cost around $9 but will last you a while depending on the lenth of your hair. I cover it with a plastic bag rather than a shower cap because I have so many plastic bags in my house, I might as well make some use of them. Everyone says I am cheap but why go buy some shower caps when the plastic bags do the same thing?
After I rinse the Cantu out, I have added another quick Masque just to make sure my hair is well conditioned and looks healthy. I use Eden Body Works Natural Hair Masque Treatment. It is also a deep conditioner. You leave it on for just 15 minutes unless somebody is in your way. I would say thirty minutes at the most. I also agree that you should never leave any product on your hair for more than an hour. I have done this and the results were terrible. Made it less manageable. Eden Body Works is Paraben and Sulfate free and both products are water based meaning the first ingredient on the label says water (Aqua) and in fact, all the products I use are water based products and 90% all natural. I always look for Paraben and Sulfate free products for my hair that are water based and add moisture not grease or heavy oils. I try to use things that are light on the hair to prevent build up and make whatever I am doing to it last longer.
I have like 10 calls to make this morning mainly for me a my daughters’ appointments. We have a lot. I have one Thursday and one Friday. Not making any more for January. I don’t want to over book and wear myself out. No matter what I do or say, I am still disabled and functioning at half of my abilities. I do my own hair still and will as long as I have the strength. I don’t rely on help from others because I am on a time schedule even though I can no longer work. Best way to put it is that my job now is to make sure I keep, make, and reschedule appointments for my house hold and to go to the doctor regularly. Specifically regarding my eyes and my thyroid. My ankle being swollen is from me doing too much but the eye thing I don’t understand yet and I don’t believe it’s just my allergies. The next time it is swollen I may go to urgent care if I have enough time.
I know these post can get weird on Twitter. Meaning it’s posting while I am on there. That is because I schedule them too. That way I can keep new content here daily. It is easy to add content so through out the day, as I run across new information or find something interesting, I just share it either on here or on Twitter which by the way I still love but I accidentally unfollowed someone. I feel kind of bad but in a way, it’s not like I knew them or anything. I don’t know anyone on Twitter. I just like how fast I can get information about health and the news. I am also on YouTube but only the sick part. I never made a video of me well but I am going to do so after I do my hair. I will add the link to it even though I don’t maintain my YouTube channel. My handle is Twistteddollface. On PS4 I am kushkola313 and BlackWhiskey313 but I don’t really play online. My husband does. I will add all this to the menu too. Contacts are important for business right now and we are running two websites and he is passing out fliers. He ended up smoking and thinking about how his boss was treating him and quit yesterday. We are trying to go into business for ourselves. Self-made. He won’t be sitting here playing the game all day and neither will I. We got too much stuff to do. Generate more money until he can find a better job or continue doing what he does best. Drive and grow. Making plans for a garden but we have a Pitbull in the yard. I hate when they pee on the fruits and vegetables.
In my window in the kitchen has enough room to start growing some herbs. I used to put the little baby plants there because of the sunlight. They did good. Mine. The ones I got from someone else must have gotten stressed and they did very poor with that amount of sun and water I was giving them. My cousin is growing some of everything but lost her plants because the Christmas tree was blocking the light. The ones she got left I can get a piece of and finish rooting them in water before we plant them in the dirt. We are also looking into edibles. I get quite a few good recipes from Leafly that I haven’t tried yet. Cookies are okay. Ribs would be a lot better. I did a Pepsi rib that actually tasted like Pepsi because it was marinated overnight. So tender.
I am using the phone to post today because everyone is sleep. I didn’t smoke before I went to bed and woke up cold because someone decided it was too hot and opened the window. Yes it is warmer outside for now but not so warm that you need to open your windows yet. I have on my hoodie again for this reason. His blood pressure must stay high or he just like cold air when he sleeps. I know it makes me stiff so if I can’t move, it’s his fault. And he is going to have to get me something to relax my muscles and get rid of these aches and pains. Shop opens early so I should be fine. Hot water is better now. It could be because it hadn’t been used all night. I don’t know but I do know that I need to start pricing hot water tanks. We are going to need one right away.
Why did we make two appointments in the same day around the same time? Desperaty. Me and my daughter need to go to all of our appointments. Especially these kind. But she was late and I have to reschedule hers but she did make it to the dentist. They had to pull two of her teeth from all that sugar she like. She said after this, she will never eat or drink sugar again. By the time I saw her, she couldn’t even talk from them numbing her mouth. And she had guaze to stop the bleeding. It is a good thing she was late for her other appointment. She needed urgent dental care. Her tooth had been hurting and it was getting worse. After the numbness went away and I woke up, she could talk again. Her pain medicine wasn’t ready at the pharmacy yet. He has it now and she went to bed fine. After the Tylenol.
My appointment went very well. My doctor is the same age as me and all natural. She had enough hair to make a bun. The office was tiny and your phones didn’t work is my only complaint. The wait time was fine. She had one person in front of me. She had all of my history and meds I take in the system. That is good. She only had to ask a few questions about my family history. The usual but this was a consult to become a patient. Almost like a job interview. My eye was what I was worried about. Why is it swelling? Only when I am sleep and only the one eye. She said it could be a stye or it’s my allergies and wrote me a prescription for Zyrtec. It should bring the swelling down if it’s allergy related even though I take allergy meds daily. She said I may have grown used to the one I am on and to rotate the allergy meds. I will try the Zyrtec the next time it swells.
As far as my blood pressure being high and me needing to take medicine for it, I still have to take it until further notice. It was a bit low before I took my medicine. This can make you light headed or dizzy which is what is happening. She wrote a prescription for a monitor so I could keep track of it at home. I have to write it down daily and bring it to my next appointment. Which will not be a problem.
She did a very quick and basic exam and made two notes. Vitamin deficient and thyroid. She noticed from my medical information that I was low in VitD and I told her I was low in other vitamins too. So she ran the blood work to make sure and we will go from there. I particularly asked about magnesium. She checked my breathing which is normal. Then she noticed the way I swallow and checked my throat and used the word enlarged. My mother had a very serious thyroid condition she had to take medicine for. If she didn’t have the medicine, she would start to have problems. She only could go without the medicine two or three days. We used to go get it for her. I believe it is hereditary. I could have it and not know. So she is doing an ultrasound on my throat. I have to call and make an appointment but at a different location. Still close to home though.
The appointment went great. I turned the flu shot down as usual but I am able to change my mind. I really don’t want one right now. I feel good and don’t want to spoil it. I will be scheduling that ultrasound as soon as possible and getting my monitor for my blood pressure. This doctor is recommended almost. I will be able to say more as I go to visit the office, which is really small and was crowded when I got there. I got my prescriptions and went out in the cold to smoke of course. Way too cold and windy for me so I walked, yes, walked across the street to the bakery and got a sandwich and a drink. Nice bakery too. Hoping my next appointment with this doctor goes as smoothly as this one did. I will let you all know.
